East Stroudsburg, Pa.- The Hunter College men's indoor track and field team delivered a solid showing at the DeSchriver Invitational this weekend, competing against programs from all three NCAA divisions at East Stroudsburg University.
The highlight of the meet came from the Hawks' 4x200-meter relay squad of Jocsan Crespo, Benjamin Landheim, Conor Sullivan, and Solomon Kumi, who secured an AARTFC Indoor Regionals qualification with a time of 1:40.87.
Hunter also found success in the 4000-meter distance medley relay, where the team of Hengzhi Zhu, Melvil Badier, Sullivan, and Mateo Penafiel placed fourth overall with a time of 11:50.9.
In the distance events, Brian Guillermo earned a fourth-place finish in the 5000-meter run, clocking in at 16:21.3, while Brian Arias secured fifth in the 3000-meter event with a time of 9:44.33. Zhu also turned in a strong performance in the mile, finishing in 5:09.11.
Badier continued his success in the 800-meter race, taking fourth in 2:09.74, followed closely by Guillermo in fifth at 2:10.63.
The Hawks also delivered in the field events, with Kumi leading the way in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 12.01 meters. Crespo followed in fifth at 11.31 meters. In the shot put, Jonathan Cauci finished fourth with a throw of 11.83 meters.
Hunter will be back in action on Feb. 8 at the Big Apple Invitational.
