The 1980 graduate set records, becoming Hunter's first runner to compete at the national level. She would finish her tenure with 10 CUNYAC titles and hold the crown of New York State 1/2 mile race winner twice. We were able to catch up with the speedster HERE:
What have you been up to post Hunter?
"I continued my graduate work at HC, and completed my MSW in Clinical Social Work in 6/83, and became a Forensic Social Worker for the state of MD until my recent retirement."
Love to see that continued education! What was your favorite memory in a Hawks uniform?
"My fave memories in my uniform was the team photos of us in the relays, especially at the Penn Relays. Probably because it was such incredible team-work."
Penn Relays is such an iconic race and to have your teammates by your side is always great! Now, what was your favorite memory of your time at Hunter College?
"My fave memory was the daily camaraderie with my track team-mates, the bonding, and the laughter despite the grueling workouts."
Who was the staff member or coach who influenced you the most and how did they achieve that influence?
"It was my Coach Vincent Chiapetta because of his implicit faith and support in me, the many creative efforts to get me to various out of state track meets with financial assistance from the Athletic Dept, or tagging me with the St John's Univ. team to transport me to the various track meets."
Has participation in sports at Hunter prepared you for your current life/career?
"I believe the discipline, work ethics, and tenacity at juggling school with athletics prepared me for my career in Forensics, and later the most important role of raising three successful children."
Any advice to the Hawks that are on their way to graduation?
"Take the skill sets learnt at Hunter, and use them for your post collegiate life, and the most important role of being the best role models for your children. Good Luck to all of you!"
