BOX SCORE New York, N.Y. - With 25 assists from sophomore
Cooper Moran, the Hunter College men's volleyball raced to a three-set sweep of Brooklyn College on Tuesday evening, inside the Hunter Sportsplex.
The Hawks move one game closer to .500 overall and improve to 4-1 in CUNYAC play as the Bulldogs fall to 4-10 this season with a 1-4 mark against league opponents. The home team held the advantage in every category including a staggering 7-1 edge in blocks and a positive team hitting percentage of 33 percent.
Ted Kim was the kills-leader for the home team, as he finished with 11 in the three set win. He nearly earned the double-double with eight digs, trailing
Chris Scandole who collected 11.
Hunter broke open the first set early on, jumping out to a seven point lead at 9-2. Twelve of the final 17 points were earned by the Hawks, who closed out a 25-10 win, holding the Bulldogs to just four kills.
The teams traded the lead throughout the second frame, being locked at 14-all until the Hawks gained momentum. A kill from Kim sparked a seven-point run that put Hunter in the drivers' seat, as they closed out a 25-18 victory to move to 2-0 overall in the match.
Ten straight points for the hosts in the third gave them a lead they never relinquished, once more holding their opponent to single digit kills (5) and a negative hitting percentage.
