Edison, N.J.- The Hunter College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Thomas Edison Park this weekend to compete in the Middlesex invitational.
In the field,
Ayayo Orwa took the highest finish for the team of the day as she placed eighth in the women's long jump with a mark of 4.83m. Not far behind was
Rubilyn Navarro who took. 13th when she jumped for 4.41m, lastly
Daria Niebrzydowski placed 19th at 4.25m. For throws,
Helen Dai and
Rawnaa Elshita finished in 34th and 35th with marks of 14.26m and 13.77m respectively.
On the track, Wendy Moteil raced in the 1500m crossing the line as 6:03.62.
Rawnaa Elshita and
Mehnoor Yousaf also competed in the women's 1500m raced, clocking in at 7:02.35 and 7:18.74, respectively. Dai also ran for the Hawks' best time in the 100m hurdles as she finished in 22nd with a time of 21.44, immediately followed by Elizatte Lakouetene who finished in 22.48 with
Ashley Taylor not far behind, ranking 25th with a time of 27.9.
For the men,
Solomon Kumi recorded the team's best finish of the day as the freshman took 5th place with a mark of 1.70m in the high jump. Also finishing top ten in the men's long jump was
Anthony Fernandes who landed at 5.46m, he was followed by Hamza Elsherbiny in 10th (5.33m), while Bryan Eng (5.26m) and Kumi (5.03m) followed in the 11th and 12th.
For throws,
Jonathan Cauchi took 8th in the discuss for a mark of 16.91m, while
Daniel Anacta landed at ninth at 8.96m. Cauchi also performed in the shot put at 13th (10.70m) as well as
Elias Garcia who threw for 8.64m.
On the track, Garcia competed in the men's 100m, crossing the tape at 12.19, as well as Alsto Jiang who finished in 15.57. For hurdles, Hamza Elsherbiny ran for 22.96, followed by Kumi at 24.18.
The Hawks return to the track on April 21st for the Widener Invitational in Chester, Pa.
