Flushing, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's track and field team won its third straight CUNYAC Championship this weekend at Icahn Stadium.
Hunter scored 204 points to secure three-peat marking the team's ninth championship in school history.
Hunter excelled in distance events on the day. In the 10,000m run,
Wendy Montiel was the top runner with a time of 46:26.61, while
Taylor McClay was the top runner in the 1,500m run, crossing the finish line in 5:51.10.
Ayayo Orwa earned gold in the 100m dash with a time of 13.67, while
Althea Williams was the top performer in the 200m dash (28.73). In addition, Hunter's
Daria Niebrzydowski was the top participant in the high jump, recording a leap of 1.50m.
The Hawks also were victorious in the 4x400m relay, as
Lily McAndrews,
Helen Dai, McClay and Suriel teamed up for finishing time of 4:47.07.
