Hunter looks to defend the 2022 Women's Cross Country Championship

The Hawks look to increase their streak of 8 straight championships

New York, NY- The 2023 Hunter College Women's Cross-Country team looks to continue the team's legacy defending their 2022 title and continuing the run of 9 straight conference championships. The team's mantra, "Good teams become great ones, when the members trust each other enough to surrender the 'me' for 'we'," perfectly encapsulates their approach to the upcoming season.

The Hawks are no strangers to success, having clinched the 2022 CUNYAC Cross Country, several of the student athletes who form the core of this remarkable team are back, stronger than ever. Samantha Suriel, Wendy Montiel, Rawnaa Elshita, Ellizette Lakouetene, Irving Jiang, Karina Tan, and Mehnoor Yousaf return to lead the charge. Their experience, leadership, and unyielding commitment serve as the foundation for the Hawks' aspirations. Alongside them, newcomers Daria Niebrzydowski, Ashley Taylor, and Rubilyn Navarro bring fresh energy and depth to an already formidable lineup.

Eight consecutive CUNYAC Cross Country championships are a testament to the Hawks' legacy, but they're not resting on their laurels. With their gaze fixed firmly on the horizon, they're aiming to rise in the ECAC and national rankings. The Hawks are driven by a hunger for excellence, and their journey is only the beginning.

Coach [Marvin Hawkins], the architect of this triumphant journey, sets the tone with an unwavering belief in the power of teamwork and sacrifice. "Good teams become great ones, when the members trust each other enough to surrender the 'me' for 'we'," Coach [Hawkins] remarks. Their philosophy of unity is at the heart of the team's success, and it's this bond that propels them forward.

Hawk fans, brace yourselves for another exhilarating season. The women of Hunter College Cross Country are set to paint the trails with their determination, leaving their mark not only in the CUNYAC Conference but also on the broader stage. The Hawks are soaring to new heights, and the world better be ready to witness their unstoppable flight.

Hunter looks to start the season strong when they travel to SUNY Purchase for the Purchase Invitational on Saturday September 9th for a 10am start!  For all results, updates and announcements please follow Hunterathletics and HunterXC&T&F on Instagram, along with checking for updates here at www.huntercollegeathletics.com
