Newark, N.J.- The Hunter College women's cross country team traveled to Newark, N.J. to compete at the NJIT Highlander Invitational this weekend, where all 10 Hawks recorded personal-best times for a 14th out of 31st place finish for the team in a field featuring competition from all three NCAA divisions.
Leading the Hawks was freshman Mikaelle Cesar, who finished the 5K course in 22:00.6, securing 70th place. Right behind her was Shannon Ferri, who finished in 76th place with a time of 22:21.1. Touka Medjoubi followed close behind, clocking in at 22:31.9. Emma Kilroy improved her personal-best time to 23:14.2 ahead of Irving Jiang, who did the same, crossing the tape in 24:21.8, and Bella Hubbard (24:42.4).
Melanie Lui and Rawnaa Elshita also pushed their pace, finishing at 26:41 and 26:52, respectively. Evelyn Lopez (28:32) and Gabriela Miranda (26:24) closed out finishers for an impressive day for the Purple and Gold.
The Hawks continue their season on Oct. 19 at the Saint Joseph's Invitational in Patchogue, N.Y.
