BOX SCORE New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team fell on the road to New York University, 3-0. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-1 while the Violets advanced to 3-2.
The match went three sets with NYU taking each at 27-25, 25-22, 25-15. The first set was an even match, with the two teams going point-for-point with neither leading by more than two. A pair of kills at the end of the set gave NYU a 27-25 win to take the first set. The two teams remained close in the second set until four unanswered points for the Violets gave te home team a 14-10 edge, a lead they would carry through the remainder of the set despite a late 6-3 run for Hunter, they were unable to come back as NYU took set no. 2 at 25-22. Hunter was overwhelmed by the Violets' offense in the final set, as Hunter fell 25-15 to drop the match in three.
Muhammad Al-Amine Mbaye led Hunter with 10 kills in addition to five digs, while Cooper Moran paced the Hawks with 21 assists and nine digs. Annes Deljanin led in serving with a trio of aces while Kyle Foley added two in addition to five kills.
The Hawks return to the court for the Kean University Winer Classic this weekend, with matches against Randolph-Macon College (11 a.m.) and New Paltz (4 p.m.), on Feb. 3.
