BOX SCORE New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 win over conference opponents, CCNY, marking the team's third straight win as the Hawks advance to 8-1 in league play and 10-8 overall, while the Beavers dropped to 4-6 in CUNYAC play and 7-9 for the season's entirety.
Right from the start, it was evident that the Hawks came to dominate. In the first set, Hunter secured a commanding 25-5 win. Led by the stellar performance of setter Cooper Moran, who facilitated the offense with 34 assists, the Hawks exhibited precision and finesse on the court. Kyle Foley and Jon Pflueger led the charge at the net, contributing crucial kills and blocks to keep the Beavers at bay.
The second set saw CCNY attempting to find their rhythm, but the Hawks remained relentless. With Muhammad Al-Amine Mbaye and Kyle Foley delivering powerful spikes, and Annes Deljanin providing a solid defensive presence, Hunter secured a 25-14 victory.
As the third set unfolded, CCNY fought to avoid the sweep. However, Hunter's cohesive teamwork and strategic plays proved too much to handle. Despite attempts to force a fourth set, the Hawks maintained their dominance to clinch the set 25-19 and seal the match.
Hunter's offensive efficiency was on full display throughout the game, boasting an impressive .517 hitting percentage compared to CCNY's .033. The Hawks' balanced attack, coupled with their strong defensive efforts, proved to be the difference-maker.
Hunter returns to the court on March 19 as the team continues conference play against York at 6:00 p.m.
