SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Hunter College wrestling team hit the road this weekend for the Golden Bear Duals, hosted by Western New England University, where the Hawks battled through a competitive slate against Western New England and Roger Williams University. Hunter fell to WNE, 48-6, and to RWU, 47-6, but produced several strong individual performances.
Alimkhan Guseinov delivered the standout effort of the day at 197 lbs., earning two bonus-point victories. Against Roger Williams, he controlled the match from start to finish, securing a 15-6 major decision over Eric Power. He followed that with a dominant showing against Western New England, throwing Charlie Maloy to his back and pinning him at 2:21.
At 157 lbs., Marc Kleyman opened the day with an impressive 14-10 decision over RWU's Jack Forte, continuing his steady stretch of strong performances for the Hawks.
Hunter also saw success in exhibition action, as Christopher Gliaos earned a win at 149 lbs., while Anthony Coccarelli picked up a victory at 157 lbs.
The Hawks return to the mat on Dec. 13 at the Nassau Open in Garden City, N.Y.
