Hartford, Conn.- The Hunter College wrestling team competed in the Trinity College Trimatch on Saturday, facing tough competition in dual losses to Trinity College and Vermont State Castleton. Despite the team setbacks, the Hawks saw strong individual performances, highlighted by standout efforts from freshmen

Medina continued his impressive rookie campaign, securing two bonus-point victories to improve his season record to 24-9. Against Castleton, he dominated Mason Lishness in a 16-4 major decision. He followed that with a dominant showing against Trinity's Nolan Sharp, securing a 16-1 technical fall in the first period at the 2:16 mark.
Riello also delivered a strong showing, picking up two wins on the day. He battled through a hard-fought 9-6 decision over Castleton's Dom Lapier before putting on a commanding performance against Trinity's Pat McCarron, earning a 22-6 technical fall at 3:36 into the bout.
Sophomore Nicholas D'Erasmo added another win for Hunter, earning a 15-7 major decision over Castleton's Isaiah Grant at 165 pounds.
Hunter returns to the mat at the Scranton Quad meet on Feb. 8, where they will compete against hosting University of Scranton, Utica University, King's College (Pa.), and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
