NEW YORK — The Hunter College women's indoor track and field team put up a strong fight at the 2025 CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Armory, finishing second overall with 175 points behind Medgar Evers' 202 points. The Hawks secured multiple individual titles and personal bests, led by Jamie Risso, who was named the meet's Most Valuable Performer after winning three events and scoring in four others.
Risso's dominance across multiple disciplines earned her MVP honors. She won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.81 seconds (PR), the long jump (5.43m), and the triple jump (10.94m) while also finishing second in the 60-meter dash (8.14, PR) and third in the 200 meters (26.87, PR).
Alongside Risso's stellar performances, Tahlea Murray clocked a personal-best 10.19 in the 60-meter hurdles to place fourth. In the 400 meters, Mikaelle Cesar (1:03.26, PR) finished third, while Salam El Bazzoui set a PR of 1:12.48 to take sixth.
Hunter found success in the middle-distance events, with Shannon Ferri capturing gold in the 800 meters (2:39.30, PR) and the mile (5:50.42, PR). Cesar secured second place in the 800 meters (2:39.75), adding to Hunter's strong showing. In the 3,000 meters, Samantha Suriel ran a personal-best 12:33.43 to place third.
The 4x400m relay team also took second as Cesar, El Bazzoui, Melanie Liu, and Irving Jiang finished in 4:55.25.
The Hawks also excelled in the field events. Rubilyn Navarro placed second in the high jump (1.30m), while Becky Li finished fourth in the long jump (4.60m), contributing additional points.
In the throws, Tahlea Murray claimed first place in the shot put with a throw of 10.31m. She also delivered a strong second-place finish in the triple jump (10.35m), right behind Risso's winning mark of 10.94m.
