CHESTER, Pa. — The Hunter College men's outdoor track and field team produced multiple season-best performances and a top-three finish in the 10,000 meter race at the Paul Donahue Invitational this past weekend, hosted at Widener University.
Brian Guillermo turned in one of the Hawks' strongest performances of the day, placing third overall in the 10,000m with a time of 32:39.85— a personal best and the fastest time in the conference this season. In the 5,000m, Mateo Penafiel posted a season-best 15:38.62, leading a group of four Hawks who each set personal bests in the event, including Melvil Badier (16:22.75), Hengzhi Zhu (16:36.88), and Leonardo Kaplan (16:55.87).
In the 1,500m, Guillermo returned to clock 4:19.00 — the top time in the conference so far this season. Benjamin Landheim added another conference-leading mark in the 400H, finishing in 1:01.26. Landheim also posted Hunter's fastest time of the day in the 200m dash at 23.59 seconds.
Solomon Kumi competed in the 110-meter hurdles and crossing the tape in 17.78 seconds. He also joined Landheim, Hamza Elsherbiny, and Jocsan Crespo in the 4x400-meter relay, where the group recorded a season-best 3:45.80 to place second among CUNYAC programs.
The Hawks return to competition Saturday, May 3, for the CUNYAC Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York City.
