FLUSHING, N.Y. — The City University of New York Athletic Conference released its men's soccer preseason poll, with Hunter College picked second and tied with Lehman, setting the stage for another thrilling campaign.
The Hawks enter the season riding momentum from a storybook run last fall, when they captured their first CUNYAC championship in 14 years and punched a ticket to the NCAA Division III Tournament. With first-year head coach Evan Reifsnyder — last year's assistant — leading the charge, Hunter looks to build on its historic success.
Baruch earned the top spot with 46 points, while the Purple and Gold tallied 40 points and one first-place vote to share second with Lehman. John Jay and Brooklyn followed with 28 points apiece, as CCNY (23), York (10) and Medgar Evers (9) rounded out the rankings.
Sophomore midfielder Leonardo Kaplan was also tabbed Hunter's Preseason Player to Watch. A dynamic presence in his rookie season, Kaplan made eight starts and appeared in 12 matches, quickly establishing himself as a key contributor.
The Hawks kick off the 2025 campaign on Aug. 30 at St. Joseph's University Long Island, with kickoff slated for noon.
