NEWBURGH, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's cross country team took home first place out of seven teams at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on Saturday, paced by a one-two finish from
Shannon Ferri and
Mikaelle Cesar.
Ferri crossed the line first in the women's 5k race with a time of 20:27.9, while Cesar followed in second at 21:40.7. The duo led a strong showing for the Hawks, who placed three runners in the top five among 49 finishers.
Maria Gonzalez impressed in her collegiate debut, finishing fifth overall with a time of 23:03.1. Emma Kilroy added a 14th-place finish in 25:34.0, while Gabriela Miranda opened her season in 16th with a time of 26:28.0.
Rounding out Hunter's finishers, Melanie Liu clocked in at 29:45.1, followed by Krista Taylor (36:08.5) and Rawnaa ElshitaĀ (36:57.6).Ā
Hunter returns to action on Sept. 20 at the Fred Pavlich Invitational hosted by Bard.
