STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's indoor track and field team delivered a series of standout performances Friday night in their second invitational of the season at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Competing against a deep field, the Hawks made their presence felt, with four athletes posting top marks among all City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) competitors in their respective events.
Senior
Rubilyn Navarro highlighted the evening with Hunter's highest overall finish, clearing 1.40m in the high jump to claim sixth overaall.
The DMR team of
Emma Kilroy,
Krista Taylor,
Melanie Liu and Julisa Garcia-Jimenez also turned in an impressive showing, with a time of 16:41:47.
In the 3000m,
Shannon Ferri powered to a 9th-place finish in 11:30:86, leading all CUNYAC athletes in the event.
Taelyn Murray continued her strong start to the season, pacing the conference in both the triple jump and shot put with respective marks of 10.44m and 10.60m.
Mikaelle Cesar added to the Hawks' conference-leading performances, placing 16th overall with a time of 2:35:97 in the 800m, the top mark among CUNYAC competitors.
Hunter will continue its season at the Ramapo Season Opener at the Armory in New York City on Jan. 16.
