NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College wrestling team suffered a tough loss as it hosted Southern Virginia University in the Sportsplex on Friday afternoon.
After dropping the 125 match via pin, the Hawks were able to win points in five straight matches and take a commanding 20-6 lead over the Knights.
Botensky Bauzile created momentum and tied the dual with a pin over Joseph Manaduran (3:27) in the 133 match up.
Kenan Djokic followed with a sudden victory win and
Jayden Medina earned the Hawks five more points with a technical fall.
Anthony Coccarelli's 6-1 victory and
Jack Kent's SV win pushed the Hawks further ahead to a 20-6 lead.
Despite Hunter's early dominance, SVU stormed back with four straight victories in the final four bouts, two of which came via pins, as the Knights claimed a 24-20 come from behind win.
Hunter has the chance to quickly turn the page tomorrow as the team travels to the Mariner Duals to compete against Plymouth State University, New England College, and Maine Maritime Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.
