WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Hunter College wrestling team split its three dual matches at the New York vs. Pennsylvania Duals on Saturday, posting a dominant win over Keystone while competing against a pair of strong regional opponents.
Hunter opened the day with a 35-14 loss to Wilkes, bounced back with a convincing 54-3 victory over Keystone, and closed the event with a 39-12 setback against Elizabethtown.
Junior Botensky Bauzile turned in a perfect day at 133 lbs, going 3-0 with two falls to lead the Purple and Gold. Bauzile highlighted his performance with a lightning-fast 0:43 pin over regionally ranked Connor Kerwin of Wilkes, one of the top individual results of the meet for Hunter.
Several Hawks recorded multiple victories on the day. Freshman Christopher Gliaos went 2-0 at 149 lbs, earning a first-period fall over Michael Palinkas of Keystone before adding an exhibition win with a 10-5 decision against Elizabethtown's Casey Spina. Naseer Johnson also picked up two wins at 184 lbs, including a 13-4 major decision over Wilkes' Jared Bilinski.
Hunter received additional contributions across the lineup. Sophomores Kenan Djokic (141 lbs) and Jayden Medina (149 lbs) each secured wins, while Muhamadu Konteh (125 lbs), Anthony Coccarelli (157 lbs), Jack Kent (165 lbs), Isaiah Harris (165 lbs), Alimkhan Guseinov (197 lbs), and Hayden Roy (285 lbs) all added victories during the tri-dual event.
The Hawks return home on Jan. 24 for the Hawks' Tri-Match hosting Alfred State and Kean University in the Sportsplex.
