STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Hunter College women's outdoor track and field team opened its season Saturday at the Stony Brook Snowflake Classic, competing against a strong field that included several Division I programs.
Hunter was led by Rachelle Griffith, who captured first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:11.07.
Senior Shannon Ferri continued her strong performances on the track, placing seventh overall in the mile with a time of 5:36.7. She also competed in the 800m, finishing in 2:37.45 behind sophomore Mikaelle Cesar, who posted a conference-best time of 2:31.91.
In the field events, Daria Niebrzydowski earned a second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m. Taelyn Murray added another runner-up performance in the long jump at 4.45m, while Rubilyn Navarro followed closely behind in third with a mark of 4.43m.
Murray also recorded a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 9.40m to round out the Hawks' day.
Hunter returns to action March 21 at the Stockton Invitational.
