Brooklyn came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead with senior
Richard Wong (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and
Gooding were the only two to score a victory for the Hawks.
Wong then took his first singles match 7-6, 0-7, 6-2 over sophomore
Elliot Hirsch (Brooklyn, NY/Yeshiva) to tie the score at 2-2.
Sophomore
Gian Arceo (Flushing, NY/Bayside) improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 win at sixth singles which put the Hawks up 3-2. However, Brooklyn would score the next three wins at third, fourth and fifth singles to seal the game at 5-4.
Hunter now fall to 2-2 on the year and are 1-1 in the CUNYAC, while Brooklyn improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Hunter returns to the court on Friday, January 28 when they head uptown to face City College of New York for a 3:30 p.m. CUNYAC match. The Beavers are currently 1-0 on the year and in the conference after opening up with a 7-2 win over City Tech.
