New York, NY – Sophomore guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) scored a team high 12 points to help the Hawks snap a four game skid with a 55-29 win over the College of New Rochelle in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday night at the CNR Wellness Center in New Rochelle, NY.
McKenna scored ten of her 12 points in a first half where the Hawks allowed just eight points by the opposition. Junior
Claire Madden (New Rochelle, NY/Blessed Sacrament), making her fourth start of the season, scored eight points and led the team with nine rebounds, while junior guard
Shay Branch El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) also scored eight points for the Hawks.
The Blue Angels were led by sophomore Casey Cappelli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) who scored a game high 15 points, shotting 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Junior Alianna Cardova recorded a game high 11 rebounds with six points for New Rochelle.
After tonight's win, the Hawks improve 5-6 on the year and will return home on Wednesday, when they host the Brewers of Vassar College for a 7:00 p.m.
