NEW YORK— The Met Basketball Writers Association announced its 2024–25 All-Met Division III women's basketball team on Monday, with Hunter College's Alexa Charles earning a spot on the First Team — one of the top honors in the region.
Charles capped off a historic season by leading the Hawks to a regular-season conference championship while ranking among the nation's elite in several statistical categories. The junior from Tarrytown, N.Y., averaged a double-double and currently leads all of NCAA Division III in field goals made (271) and total points (668), while ranking second in the nation in scoring at 26.5 points per game.
One of the top two-way players in the country, Charles also ranks third nationally in total steals (120) and steals per game (4.62), and shot 50.8 percent from the field, placing her among the top 50 nationally. She recorded 17 double-doubles this season, putting her in the top ten nationally, and is one of just 11 Division III players in the country to post a triple-double this year.
Charles holds Hunter College's all-time records for career points and steals, as well as single-season marks in points, steals, and free-throw percentage. Her 2024–25 honors include six conference Player of the Week selections, two All-Met DII/DIII Player of the Week awards, one WBCA National Player of the Week nod, and Preseason CUNYAC Player to Watch recognition. Charles was also named a First-Team All-Star and shared CUNYAC Player of the Year honors.
In just three seasons, Charles has totaled 1,863 career points. She ranks first in the conference in rebounding with 11.0 per game and 285 total boards. Notable performances this season include a 40-point outing in a win over Baruch on Dec. 6 and a 10-steal game against Sarah Lawrence on Jan. 27.
