Jamaica, NY – The Hunter College men's tennis team remained unbeaten on the season with a 9-0 victory over the New York City College of Technology on a damp Friday afternoon at the courts on the campus of York College in Jamaica, NY.
The Hawks swept all three doubles matches 8-0, with the tandem of junior
Noel Marrero (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and freshman
Andres Gonzalez (Hastings, NY/Hastings) taking firs doubles, sophomores
Wendell Williams (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and
Ian Katz (Woodside, NY/American Studies) winning second and senior
Nelson Deuz (East Elmhurst, NY/Msgr. McClancy) and junior
Gian Arceo (Flushing, NY/Bayside) won third doubles.
Freshman
Max Segan (New York, NY/Hunter) remained unbeaten at first singles, taking a 6-0, 6-0 win, while freshman Peter Stanciu won second singles by the same score. Sophomore
Thomas Lin (Wappinger Falls, NY/Cardinal Spellman) made his season debut, winning sixth singles 6-0, 6-0, while
Marrero,
Gonzalez and
Arceo each won their singles match at third, fourth and fifth respectively.
The Hawks, who are off to one of their better starts of late, will be back in action on Monday, when they head to Lehman College for the make-up from Thursday's rainout at the APEX in the Bronx, NY.
