Brothers Collide, Hawks Sweep Bridges

Brooklyn, NY – After not having an opportunity to face each other last season, today the Forberg brothers squared off in a first doubles match and it would be the tandem of Hunter's Roy Forberg and freshman standout Max Segan taking down his older brother Ben Forberg and Brooklyn's top gun Elliot Hirsch 8-6 en route to a 9-0 victory for the Hawks in a CUNY Athletic Conference match Tuesday evening in Brooklyn, NY.

At second doubles, sophomore Jayquan Gooding and freshman Peter Stanciu finished off second doubles 8-2, while junior Noel Marrero freshman Andres Gonzalez took care of third doubles 8-3.

In singles play, Segan defeated Hirsch 6-1, 6-3 in the top spot. Stanciu then earned his four consecutive win at second singles, defeating B. Forberg 6-4, 6-1. R. Forberg won third singles 6-1, 6-4, Gooding took fourth singles 6-4, 6-0 and Marrero won his fifth singles match 6-0, 6-1. The match was then closed out by Gonzalez in the sixth slot, winning his first set 7-6, 7-3 in the tiebreaker and then took the second set 6-0.

The Hawks now improve to 5-0 on the season and are 3-0 in conference play and have won their fifth straight 9-0 match. They will return to action Friday, when they travel to Flushing, NY for a non-conference match with Manhattanville College at 3:30 p.m at the USTA Tennis Center.
