New York, NY – Senior forward
Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) was one of five Hawks to score in double figures, leading the way with 20 points as Hunter coasted towards an 87-25 win over the College of New Rochelle in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Freshman forward
Rachel Ilg (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) scored a career high 15 points, shooting 7-of-9 in 24 minutes of action off the bench. Junior guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) finished with 15 points, while freshman guard
Johanna Keilwitz (Wolmirstedt, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle) added 14 points and senior center
Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) had ten points and five boards. Junior guard
Shamar Stewartson (Springfield Gardens, NY/Far Rockaway) led the Hawks with seven steals and five assists and also scored nine points in 18 minutes off the bench.
For the Blue Angels, freshman forward Kristina Nilaj shot 50% from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line to lead her team with 14 points.
Hunter (7-5) next heads to Brooklyn on Saturday where they will face the Bulldogs in the first game of a men's and women's CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader with the women tipping off at 12:30 p.m., followed by the men at 3:00 p.m.
