On Friday night, December 3rd, the Hawks hosted the Black Knights of Army in a dual meet during Homecoming. The crowd gave the team the extra boost needed in order to capture their first win of the season, 19-8, as there were many stellar performances by the fencers.

The hawks dominated in the foil and sabre events, earning victories in both by a score of 7-2. In foil, Freshman Irene Yenko won all three of her bouts while freshman Naja Fandal and junior Natalia Dittren picked up two wins each. In sabre, senior Stella Shifrin and Jillian Melnick led the hawks, winning all three of their bouts and accounting for six of the seven wins, giving the Hawks a 14-4 advantage with epee left to contest. Wendy Mak led the epee squad as she was a perfect three for three, leading the way for the Hawks as they came out on top, 5-4,

The Hawks will return to action on Saturday, February 5 when they will travel to Cambridge, MA to compete against Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
