Noel Marrero (Bronx, NY/Lehman) moved into a tie for fourth most singles victories in program history after taking his fourth singles match 6-2, 6-2 to help the Hawks towards a 7-2 victory in a non-conference men's tennis match against Ramapo College on Wednesday evening.
The Hawks got things going in doubles as sophomores
Alex Stanciu (New York, NY/Locust Valley) and
Ian Katz (Woodside, NY/American Studies) teamed up for an 8-5 first double win, and then Marrero paired up with freshman
Arthur Kapetanakis (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) to win second doubles 8-5. Ramapo grabbed a match point with a third doubles victory.
Freshman
Yevgeny Perepelov (Brooklyn, NY/Keystone National) improved his season mark to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-3 win at first singles. Then Stanciu took second singles 6-1, 6-0, followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win for Kapetanakis at third singles. Freshman
Irving Salazar (Corona, NY/John Bowne) finished up things up for the Hawks with a 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth singles. Ramapo's second match point came at fifth singles.
Hunter (7-0, 4-0 CUNYAC) will now have some time to rest as they do not return to action until Friday, April 9 when they are scheduled to face Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.
