Hawks Drop Matches against Yeshiva, Stony Brook

NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter College men's fencing team suffered a pair of setbacks dropping a 16-10 decision against Stony Brook and then a 22-5 loss against host Yeshiva University on December 11.

Stony Brook 16, Hunter 10
The Hawks dropped a 16-10 decision against Stony Brook. Hunter started strong, earning a 7-2 decision in the epee as Justin Lokossou won three bouts and Hunter Lackowitz won two bouts to top the Seawolves. The Sabre was challenging as Stony Brook bested the Hawks 6-2 with Alexis Chavez and Isaac Orbe each winning a bout. Finally, the Seawolves earned a 8-1 victory in the foil as Hardley Joanis was the lone Hawk to win a bout in the division.

Yeshiva 22, Hunter 5
Hunter was outmatched by host Yeshiva University, falling 22-5. The Hawks won just one bout in the epee as Lokossou earned the victory in a 8-1 defeat. Hunter dropped the sabre 6-3 as Orbe won a bout and Chavez claimed two. The foil division also went by way of the Macs who took the 8-1 win as Joanis was the only Hawk to win a bout.

Hunter is absent from competition until January 21 when they travel to compete in the Army Invitational.
