Flushing, NY – On Tuesday, March 28, the men's tennis team hosted the Beavers of CCNY in their third contest of the 2011 season. The Hawks took first and second doubles and then capped the match by taking four out of six contested singles matches to come out on top, 6-3. With the win, Hunter improves to 3-0, 3-0 CUNYAC while CCNY drops to 1-3, 1-1 CUNYAC.
Yevgeny Perepelov teamed up with Robert Frischling-Sosman at first doubles and easily beat their opponents by a score of 8-1. At second doubles, Thomas Lin and Mark Goldfinger secured another win at second doubles, beating Itai Achiaz and Julian Felder 8-6.
At first singles, Perepelov blew by Gaiell Kercy 6-0, 6-0 while Goldfinger, playing second singles, dropped the first set 2-6, but rebounded to tie the match with a 6-2 second set and then came out on top by taking the deciding set 6-2.
Lin, at third singles, tacked on another point for his team by beating Lear Haninovich 6-2, 6-2. Stanislov Tsoy notched the final point for the Hawks at fifth singles beating his opponent 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
The Hawks are back in action today, March 29 when they travel to Brooklyn, New York to take on conference rivals, City Tech at 4:00 pm.
