Hunter Falls on the Road to Merchant Marine

KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The Hunter College men's tennis team (3-5) dropped a non-conference matchup on Friday afternoon at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (5-3), falling 7-0 at the Brooks Stadium Courts.

Merchant Marine jumped ahead by claiming all three doubles courts. Krishna Arya and Joseph Zar were first off court at No. 3, while Anil Singh and Savio Francis dropped their No. 2 matchup 6-0. At No. 1 doubles, Alexander Hagiu and Raymond Leu picked up two games before falling 6-2

In singles, the Mariners won all six courts in straight sets. Hagiu put together a competitive showing at No. 1, falling 6-3, 6-3. Singh and Arya each earned a game in their opening sets at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, while Leu, Zar, and Francis completed the lineup for the Hawks.

Hunter returns to action on Tuesday, April 22, for a CUNYAC matchup against Brooklyn College. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens.
