New York, NY- The Hunter College Men's Tennis Team was back in action on Wednesday, March 30, walking away with their fourth victory of the season, a 7-2 win against St. Joseph's College.
On the singles side, the Hawks were particularly impressive, earning victories in five of the six match-ups. Yevgeny Perepelov gave the Hawks a strong performance in the No. position, defeating the Golden Eagles' Erik Forsythe 6-2, 6-1.
From there the Hawks continued to roll, collecting singles victories from Roy Forberg (6-0, 6-1), Arthur Kapetanakis (7-5, 6-3), Thomas Lin (6-4, 6-0), and Mark Goldfinger (7-5, 6-2). Hunter's only loss in singles play came in the No. 6 spot, where St. Joseph's Adam Friel defeated Binn Luu 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles competition, the Hawks were almost equally as impressive, once again losing just one match-up. Perepelov and Kapetanakis teamed up in the No. 1 spot, defeating their St. Joseph counterparts 8-4, while Forberg and Lin disposed of their competition 8-3. The No. 3 doubles team of Robert Frischling and Goldfinger did not fair quite as well, battling Friele and Dan Favale before ultimately getting defeated in two sets, 9-8, 7-3.
The Hawks will return to action when they take on Farmingdale State College on Friday, April 1. The match-up is set to kick off at 4:00pm.
