Hawks Back On The Winning Track With Two More Victories

New York, NY-- The Hunter College men's tennis team had a busy day on Thursday, April 21, claiming consecutive victories over York College (9-0) and Farmingdale State (5-4), as they improved to 8-3 on the season.

The Hawks were most impressive against conference foe, York College, winning all nine matches. Yevgeny Perepelov got the team started with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over York's Ayman Busat in the one slot. The Hawks won the No. 2 singles match by default, followed by wins from Roy Forberg (6-2, 6-0), Arthur Kapetanakis (6-1, 6-1), Mark Goldfinger (6-0, 6-1), and Binh Luu (7-5, 6-1) in the No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 spots respectively.

Hunter looked equally as strong in doubles competition where the teams of Perepelov and Kapetanakis, and Luis Quintero and Forberg both defeated their York counterparts by the score of 8-1.

The Hawks won the final doubles match-up by default.

The only losses of the day for the Hawks came in the match-up against Farmingdale. However, the Hawks received wins from their top four in singles, with Perpelov (6-0, 6-0), Quintero (6-2, 6-1), Forberg (6-4, 6-2), and Kapetanakis (0-6, 6-4, 6-4) claiming victories.

The Hawks earned their final victory in doubles competition where Perpelov and Quintero earned an 8-2 win, to tip the scales for Hunter's overall 5-4 victory over the Rams.
