Flushing, NY- On Friday, May 22nd, the men's tennis team took on the Roadrunners of Ramapo College in a non-conference match-up. The men were off to a promising start as they only dropped one doubles match, but the Roadrunners swept third through sixth singles to grab the 5-4 victory. With the loss, the Hawks fall 8-4, as the Roadrunners improve to 7-2 overall.
The day started with doubles as sophomore
Arthur Kapetanakis teamed up with senior
Roy Forberg in the first slot, and they defeated Ramapo's Sam Klein and Prasanna Fernado 8-5. Playing second doubles, sophomore Yevgeny Perpelov and junior
Mark Goldfinger easily handled Matt Giuliari and Evan Clayton with a 8-3 victory. The duo of freshman Robbie Frischling-Sossman and junior
Binh Luu were paired for third doubles, but dropped the match with a 8-4 loss.
In singles play, Perepelov quickly finished off his opponent with a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles. Forberg had a closer match, but still came out on top 6-4, 6-3 over Klein. That would be the Hawks final win of the day as third though sixth singles all fell to the Roadrunners.
The Hawks begin their championship run and will attempt to defend their CUNYAC title on Saturday, April 30th when they compete in the quarterfinals.
