New York, NY-- After a 5-0 start to their season, the Hunter College men's tennis team recorded their second consecutive loss on Thursday, April 7, falling to conference foe, the College of Staten Island, 7-2.
Both of the Hawks victories came in singles competition. In the No. 1 spot Yevgeny Perepelov defeated his Staten Island counterpart 6-0, 6-1, while Mark Goldfinger in No. 4 singles took the victory against CSI's Masaru Takaki 3-6, 6-0, 10-8.
Meanwhile, the Hawks suffered four singles victories with Arthur Kapetanakis taking the loss (6-4, 6-4), along with Thomas Lin (6-1, 6-2), Robert Frischling (6-1, 6-2), and Stanislav Tsoy (6-2, 6-1).
In doubles completion, the Hawks were unable to record a single victory with Perpelov and Kapetanakais falling in the No. 1 spot 9-8 (7-4), Lin and Goldfinger in No. 2 (8-5), and Frischling and Tsoy in the final match (8-1).
With the loss, the Hawks dropped to 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in the conference. The team will return to action today, Friday, April 8, when they take on John Jay College of Criminal Justice at 3:30pm.
