JAMAICA, N.Y. –  The Hunter College men's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Friday afternoon defeating York College on the road, 9-0 to spoil the Cardinals' season-opener.

Hunter improves to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in the CUNYAC while York falls to 0-1 overall and in league action.

The Hawks opened doubles with Luis Quintero and Arthur Kapetanakis besting York duo Ayman Busat and Iheanyi Agbor, 8-4. Damen Ellingson and Robert Frischling-Sosman then defeated York's Guarocuya Renyoso and Erick Giron at #2 doubles, while Irving Salazaar and Stanislav Tsoy topped Justin Mo and Trevon Phillips, 8-5 in #3 doubles.

Quintero outlasted Busat 6-2 in the first set and then 4-2 in the second to win the first singles match while Kapetanakis soundly beat Reynosco, 6-1 and 6-2 in the the second singles match. #3 saw Ellingson knock off Giron in a 7-6 thriller before the Cardinal retired.

Frischling-Sosman won the fourth singles match by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 in both sets over Agbor. Then, Salazaar was perfect at #5, defeating Mo, 6-0 in both sets to take the match. Tsoy closed out the sixth singles with a victory over Brown, winning 6-0 in the first set and 6-1 in the second to give Hunter the 9-0 victory.

Hunter takes to the courts next on Tuesday, March 27 when it heads to CUNYAC foe, CCNY for a match scheduled to start at 4pm.
