FLUSHING, NY - The Baruch Bearcats handed the Hunter College men's tennis team its first loss on the season as it defeated the Hawks, 8-1 at the USTA National Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.
Hunter drops to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference while Baruch improves to 9-1 and 5-0 overall and in the conference respectively.
Wins were hard to come by for the Hawks today as
Yevgeny Perepelov nabbed the lone vicitory at first singles, defeating Artem Gorbachevskiy, 6-1 and 6-1.
Luis Quintero battled valiantly at second singles, dropping the first set 7-6 in a 7-4 tiebreak. He won the second set 6-2 but ultimately fell 10-6 in the second tiebreak to lose the match.
Baruch dominated from the onset, using three convinining wins in doubles to take a 3-0 lead. The Bearcats also captured victories in third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles to take the match, 8-1.
Hunter will look to rebound when it hosts the College of Staten Island this Thursday, April 5th at 3:30pm. The match will be played at the USTA National Tennis Center.
