Brooklyn, N.Y. – The men's volleyball team traveled to Brooklyn to compete in the Brooklyn College Tri-Match against Lehman and York College. The Hawks defeated Lehman 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-17) and also York 3-1 (26-28, 25-23, 25-18. 25-11) to go undefeated for the day.
Against the Lightning of Lehman, the Hawks were led by
Stanley Martinez with nine kills and 10 assists, followed by
Braien Otsla who tallied seven kills and two service aces. Freshman Alexandru Barbulsecu added six kills while
Nino Hot chipped in with four kills. Lehman was led by Brian Francisco and Manuel Bonilla who each had eight kills.
After dropping the first set with tight 26-28 score against the Cardinals, the Hawks regrouped and took the next three sets with relative ease. This time Otsla led the Hawks with 15 kills and five kills, followed by Moshood Jinad who had 12 kills and two blocks. Martinez tallied 23 assists and nine kills while Barbulescu had eight kills and three blocks. The Cardinals were led by Leszek Stankiewicz with 15 kills, seven digs, and four blocks.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, March 6
th when they compete against the Bloodhounds of John Jay.
