KINGS POINT, NY -,The Hunter Hawks wrestling team continued their great start to the 2014-15 season with two victories at the US Merchant Marine Mariner Duals on Saturday. The Hawks lost to Baldwin Wallace in their first meet then responded by defeating USMMA and Worchester Polytechnical Institute.,
Three Hawks went undefeated during the duals;
Jesse Bader at 165lbs,
Dennis Melendez at 197lbs and
Patryk Kopczynski at 285lbs.,
Bader had the highlights of the day for the Hawks, defeating the #4 ranked wrestler, David Shapiro and then defeating USMMA's national qualifier Branden Yeik.,
"I'm really proud of our effort and the perseverance that this group put forth throughout the first semester," said head coach
Chris Mazzatta. "Winning 80% of our first semester duals is a good start, but we know we have more winning to come."
The Hawks return to action January 4 when they will travel to New Jersey and take on Stevens Tech, TCNJ and Trinity.
