BOX SCOREBrooklyn, NY – The Hunter men's tennis team continued their winning ways with a 5-4 victory against Brooklyn College.
The match that began on Monday was called due to weather with the Hawks leading 4-3 with two matches still in progress. They resumed play Thursday afternoon with the Hawks needing one match win to secure a victory.
In the doubles competition the Hawks went 2-1 with no. 1 pair Gonzalo Saez-Garcia and
Carlos Saavedra winning their match 8-6 and no. 2 pair
Daniel Rabinovich and
Matthew Balilo winning their match 8-1.
In the singles competition, no. 1 singles Saez-Garcia won his match 6-1, 6-3 and no. 3 singles Saavedra winning his match 6-0, 6-0. Brooklyn took the no. 4 and no. 6 match.
The match was called with no. 2 singles Balilo and no. 5 singles
Rudy Saint-Louis still on the courts.
When play resumed Thursday, Balilo was the first player to complete his match, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, securing the win for the Hawks. Saint Louis retired his match trailing the 3
rd set 2-0.
The Hawks improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC play. They return to action Friday night when they take on CCNY at 7pm.
