BOX SCOREFlushing, NY - The Hunter men's tennis team advanced to the CUNYAC Finals by defeating Brooklyn College 6-0 Sunday afternoon at the Queens College Tennis Courts.
The Hawks will face Baruch for the championship on Thursday night at 5pm. The match will be played at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Hawks started off by sweeping the doubles competition 3-0. #1 pair of Gonzalo Saez-Garcia &
David Joseph won their match 8-2. #2 pair of
Matthew Balilo &
Alex Shahban won their match 8-5 and #3 pair of
Carlos Saavedra &
Daniel Rabinovich won their match 8-3
Needing only two victories in the singles competition to claim victory, the Hawks wasted no time in getting them. The first two singles matches to end were won by the Hawks. #1 singles player Saez-Garcia defeated his counterpart 6-0, 6-0 and #3 singles Joseph secured the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. #6 singles Rabinovich completed his match moments after Joseph's victory, he won 6-1, 6-0.
