FLUSHING, NY - The Hunter men's tennis team defeated SUNY Oneonta 5-4 on Saturday afternoon, making it hurt against the Red Dragons team that defeated the Hawks 9-0 last year.

In the doubles competition, the Red Dragons took an early lead after winning at #3 8-0. The Hawks would respond by taking the #1 doubles matchup 8-5 and in the match of the day at #2 doubles, Carlos Sala and Rodolfo Reynoso came from behind to win 9-7 giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

In the singles competition, the Red Dragons took the matchups at #5 and #6 to take a 3-2 lead. ECAC Player of the Week Gonzalo Saez Garcia continued his stellar season winning the #1 singles match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 to even the match up. Reynoso would drop his match at #4, once again putting the Hawks behind. Florimond Le Goupil-Maier earned a great victory at #3 singles winning 6-1, 7-6 and in the deciding match at #2 singles, Sala would defeat his counterpart in straight sets 7-5, 6-1 giving the Hawks a 5-4 victory.
