Women's Fencing Gets a Loss Against Army

Hawks Defeated With a Score of 15-12

New York, NY - Hunter College women's fencing fell to Army on Friday at the 2016 Hunter Homecoming in the B4 Gym.

The foil was a close one for the Hawks as Helen Orins, Tasnim Halim and Jessica Hall each tallied individual victories for the Hawks. Army was able to record one more to defeat Hunter, 5-4 and start the match in the lead.

The Hawks fell behind farther with a 7-2 loss in the epee. Leslie Campbell and Alina Akchurina led Hunter with two victories but Army managed a 7-2 win for the epee team.

Hunter came back when the sabre team notched a 6-3 defeat of Army with wins from Jessica Chen, Lianne Doctor and Michelle Rangel, but the comeback was not enough to get the Hawks as overall victory as they fell 15-12.

The team returns to action on January 21 when they travel to the Army Invitational.
