New York, NY - Hunter College women's fencing fell to Army on Friday at the 2016 Hunter Homecoming in the B4 Gym.
The foil was a close one for the Hawks as
Helen Orins,
Tasnim Halim and
Jessica Hall each tallied individual victories for the Hawks. Army was able to record one more to defeat Hunter, 5-4 and start the match in the lead.
The Hawks fell behind farther with a 7-2 loss in the epee.
Leslie Campbell and
Alina Akchurina led Hunter with two victories but Army managed a 7-2 win for the epee team.
Hunter came back when the sabre team notched a 6-3 defeat of Army with wins from
Jessica Chen,
Lianne Doctor and
Michelle Rangel, but the comeback was not enough to get the Hawks as overall victory as they fell 15-12.
The team returns to action on January 21 when they travel to the Army Invitational.
