Bronx, NY – Hunter College men's tennis opened its conference schedule with a dominating performance, in both doubles and singles play, as they routed Lehman College in a 9-0 victory. After a 3-0 victory in doubles competition, the Hawks easily added to their overwhelming lead with a sweep in the six singles matches. The team sits at 1-1 as they continue conference play.

Filip Koritysskiy both started the day by winning their respective No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, 8-0. The doubles match of the day featured Hunter's
Florimond Le Goupil-Maier and
Carlos Sala at the No. 1 pairing, as the match went back-and-forth early on. The Hawks broke the Lightning's serve on the third point and quickly stayed on serve to give the team a 4-1 lead. From that point forward Hunter found their stride, ending the match with a convincing 8-2 score.
Senior Garcia led the way for the home team in their singles matches, taking the No. 1 position with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory. All Hunter singles matches were won within two sets, setting the tone for a dominant team win. Hunter's Sala, Joseph, Kortiysskiy and Pula each dismissed their opponents with scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
While the rest of the team easily finished off their opponents on the neighboring courts, Maier and his opponent were competitive throughout at the No. 2 court. Like his doubles match earlier, Maier's first set was back-and-forth as players held strong to their serve. Finally Maier pulled out the exciting first set win to finish with a score of 7-6. After his first set hurdle, Maier outmatched his opponent in the second to finish with an overall match score of 7-6 and 6-0.
Hunter men's tennis returns to action on March 23 when they continue conference play by taking on York College.
