Jamaica, NY – The men's tennis team secured their second win of the season after a 9-0 sweep over York College on Wednesday afternoon. After sweeping doubles in perfect 8-0 fashion, the Hawks continued to dominate their opponents in the singles portion of the day with each athlete coming home with a win. Hunter's record now stands at 2-1 overall, 2-0 in CUNYAC play while York continues to look for their first win as they slip to 0-3 on the season.
Florimond Le Goupil-Maier and teammate
Carlos Sala made quick work of Felix Liew and Vidal Ramnaran at top flight singles, 8-0 while
Gonzalo Saez Garcia and
David Joseph took care of Robertini Regis and Ralph Ramos at second doubles, 8-0 as well.
Filip Koritysskiy and
Rudy St. Louis also won at third doubles by the same 8-0 score over Ahmed Adam and Abir Dupu.
At top flight singles, Garcia blanked Liew in identical 6-0 sets while
Ard Pula accomplished the same feat at fifth singles over Adam. Joseph outplayed his opponent at second singles, 6-1, 6-2 while Koritysskiy made quick work of Regis, 6-0, 6-2 in third singles. St. Louis and
Anthony Stefanidis both were victorious at fourth and sixth singles respectively to round out the complete sweep of York.
Up next, the Purple and Gold will take on the College of Staten Island on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:30pm. The match will be played on the tennis courts at Queens College.
