Queens, NY - In a much anticipated matchup, the Hunter College men's tennis team hosted The College of Staten Island Wednesday afternoon at Queens College. After taking two of the three doubles matches, the Hawks took five of six singles matches to roll to a 7-2 victory. With the win, Hunter moves to an overall record of 3-1 and remain unblemished in conference action, 3-0.
 
Leading the way in the doubles portion, the pairing of Carlos Sala and Florimond Le Goupil-Maier downed their opponents with a score of 8-3 at top flight doubles. On the neighboring court at second doubles, Gonzalo Saez Garcia and David Joseph helped their team secure the second win with a winning score of 8-2. Ard Pula and Filip Koritysskiy fell at third doubles, 8-4.
 
Using momentum from their convincing doubles match performance, both Sala and Le-Goupil Meier dominated their opponents at second and third flight singles with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively. Garcia impressed at top flight singles as he defeated Chris Livoti 6-2, 6-3. Joseph and Kortiysskiy also earned victories in fourth and fifth singles with scores of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-2. Anthony Stefanidis fell to Alex Tsui at fifth singles by way of a 6-3, 6-1 score.
 
Hunter looks to build their three-game win streak when they take on Division I opponent Fordham University on Saturday, April 2^nd at 10am.
