Farmingdale, NY - The men's tennis team took on Skyline Conference member SUNY Farmingdale yesterday afternoon and won handily, 7-2. After taking two out of three doubles matches, the Hawks nearly swept the singles portion of the match to cruise to their fourth straight win of the season, pushing their record out to 8-3 overall while their CUNYAC mark remains unblemished at 7-0.
Gonzalo Saez Garcia and
Florimond Le Goupil-Maier impressed at top flight doubles as they defeated their counterparts, 8-2. Similarly,
Carlos Sala and
David Joseph made quick work of their opponents at second doubles, 8-0. However, Farmingdale turned the tables on
Filip Koritysskiy and
Anthony Stefanidis with an 8-0 score, sending the competition into singles play with the Hawks holding a 2-1 advantage.
Garcia, Sala and Goupil-Maier handled their counterparts at first, second and third singles easily, winning with scores of 6-1/6-0, 6-0/6-2, and 6-1/6-2. Both Joseph and Koritysskiy defeated their Farmingdale opponents with identical scores of 6-4, 6-3 at fourth and sixth singles. The Rams managed to steal one win at fifth singles after Patrick Madigan got the best of Stefanidis in a tightly contested game, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
Hunter returns to action on Tuesday, April 19 when they take on the Road Runners of Ramapo College at 3:30pm in Mahawah, NJ.
