Mahwah, NJ - The men's tennis team capped their regular season with an 8-1 win over Ramapo College earlier this afternoon. After sweeping the doubles portion of the match, the Hawks went on to take five out of the six singles matches. The victory improves their record to 10-3 overall and gives them the momentum of a six game win streak heading into the conference tournament.
Gonzalo Saez Garcia and
Florimond Le Goupil-Maier outlasted tough competition at top flight doubles but managed to come away with an 8-6 win as did the duo of
Filip Koritysskiy and
Rudy St. Louis at third doubles.
Carlos Sala and
David Joseph also emerged victorious at second doubles by a winning score of 8-4.
Willen Feygin of Rampao took Saez Garcia to three sets but it was the Hawk who came out on top, 6-1, 0-6, 6-4. Sala was also pushed to three at second singles but emerged victorious, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 as did teammate Joseph, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Le Goupil-Maier made quick work of his counterpart, Mike Abelev at third singles, winning with identical scores of 6-2 in two sets while Koritysskiy came away with the final single win at fifth singles by way of a 6-3, 6-4 score.
The Hawks return to action when they play in the CUNYAC semifinals on Sunday, May 1 at 12pm at Queens College. By way of their perfect 7-0 CUNYAC record during the season, they earned the #1 seed in the tournament and received a first round bye.
