Wayne, NJ - The men's tennis team recorded another victory on Thursday April 7, with an 8-1 win over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College. Hunter College improves to 4-2 overall and remain undefeated at 4-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the doubles competitions, Hunter won each of their matchups to go up 3-0. The top flight duo of Gonzalo Saez-Garcia and Fillip Koritysskiy defeated Richard Mills and Oscar Wu of John Jay by a match score of 8-2. The #2 pairing of
Ard Pula and
Carlos Sala dispatched John Jay's Maxim Gorelov and Carlos Negron with a score of 8-4. To close out the sweep, third flight doubles partners,
Florimond Le Goupil-Maier and
Rudy St. Louis, defeated their counterparts 8-0.
The Hawks continued their dominant play in singles matches, winning five of six. Winners include Saez-Garcia, Sala, Koritysskiy, and Pula. In fourth flight singles, St. Louis recorded his second singles win on the season when he faced Carlos Negron. Close throughout, St. Louis displayed determination to eventually capture the well-earned victory. The match-of-the-day comprised of two tiebreaker sets: 7-6 (8-5) and 7-6 (8-6).
The Hawks are back in action Saturday, April 9th at Alley Pond in Queens, NY, when they take on the Red Dragons of Oneonta.
