Staten Island, NY - Hunter College men's tennis was defeated in the finals of the 2017 CUNYAC Championships on Thursday by the #1 seed Baruch College.
This was the third-straight season that Hunter made an appearance in the finals, but the #2 Hawks fell with a score of 5-1 to earn second place in the conference.
The Purple and Gold started off the match with a win at #2 doubles as the duo of
Joel Cantila and
David Joseph got an 8-3 win. The Hawks trailed 2-1 going into singles play.
From there the Bearcats managed to score three points before the Hawks could, taking the matches at the #1, #5 and #6 courts to capture the CUNYAC title.
Hunter will graduate one senior from the squad in
David Joseph.
