Staten Island, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's indoor track and field team delivered strong performances at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, hosted by St. John's University at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Hawks secured high conference rankings and showcased their versatility across multiple events.

In the hurdles, Solomon Kumi led the Hawks in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 9.95 to finish 13th overall and rank third in the CUNYAC standings. Cedric Denis followed with a time of 11.2, placing 14th and earning the fourth spot in the conference rankings.

The sprints featured notable efforts from Hunter's athletes. In the 60-meter dash, Hamza Elsherbiny placed 30th with a time of 7.54, ranking fifth in the conference. Jocsan Crespo (7.59) and Benjamin Landheim (7.64) placed 31st and 36th, earning seventh and eighth in the conference rankings, respectively. Landheim also stood out in the 200 meters, finishing 16th overall with a time of 23.95, ranking second in CUNYAC. Elsherbiny (24.47) and Crespo (24.73) rounded out the top three and four spots in the conference.

In the distance events, Melvil Badier excelled in the 3,000 meters, finishing 13th overall with a time of 9:28.38 and securing the top conference ranking. Angel Martinez followed with a time of 11:50.12, placing 24th and earning third in the conference standings. Harrison Abarca was listed as DNF, though his finish is currently under review.

In the 400 meters, Conor Sullivan delivered a strong performance, crossing the line in 55.41 to finish 19th overall and claim the top spot in the CUNYAC rankings.

Hunter's field athletes also had an impressive day. Solomon Kumi shone in the high jump, clearing 1.78 meters to finish seventh overall and earn the top conference ranking. Kumi also led the long jump with a mark of 5.83 meters, finishing 22nd overall and securing first in the conference. Cedric Denis placed 23rd with a jump of 5.76 meters, earning the second spot in CUNYAC.

In the throws, Johnathan Cauchi delivered a standout performance in the weight throw, recording a mark of 9.86 meters to finish seventh overall and rank second in the conference. Jon Ball also contributed with marks of 6.50 meters in the shot put (16th place, sixth in the conference) and 6.19 meters in the weight throw (11th place, eighth in the conference).

The Hawks' strong showing at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational highlighted their depth and competitive spirit as they continue to build momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
